The Sorting Rotary Solenoid (SRS) is also used in the logistics industry similar to the Linear Sorting Solenoid. Whereas the LSS is used to divert larger mail pieces the SRS is used in letter sorting machines. When you drop a piece of mail off, whether at the post office or at a large place of business, it all has to be sorted out properly and quickly. This is where the SRS comes into play. Kendrion delivered a bi-stable rotary solenoid with the housing and armature being tooled components resulting in fairly low production costs. With less than 20 milliseconds switching time it is an incredibly fast design and still delivers high holding torque in both end positions. The rotation angle reaches from 15-45 degrees.
